Adolescent mental health is in crisis across Europe. In Poland alone, over 40% of teenagers have experienced suicidal thoughts, yet only 12% of those in need receive adequate psychiatric care. The system is overwhelmed: with fewer than 600 child psychiatrists nationwide, waiting times stretch for months, and the process of diagnosis is slow, fragmented, and vulnerable to human error.
Mentalio addresses this urgent need by introducing a clinically validated, AI-supported system for psychiatric triage and diagnostic decision support. The platform collects structured data from patients, caregivers, and professionals, detects clinical risk factors and discrepancies, and helps determine the appropriate level of care — from outpatient counselling to inpatient treatment.
The project began with a proof of concept in hospital settings and has evolved into a certified medical device (class IIa) currently undergoing one of the largest clinical trials in adolescent psychiatry in Poland (1,490 participants, 2024–2025). Milestones include algorithm training, validation, and safety verification — with current implementation across six hospitals.
The system is built to support, not replace, clinical judgement — giving professionals more clarity and faster access to critical information. Our goal: transform how mental health care is accessed and delivered for youth, starting with better triage.
